Linda Thompson Bio Linda J. Thompson is native of Boston, Massachusetts and has danced for over 40 years. She studied dance at the “Roxbury Center for the Performing Arts, under the direction of Dance Instructor and Mentor, Madame Andrea Herbert Majors. She studied ballet, jazz, and tap, but her main focus and love was modern and lyrical dance. She was a principal dancer for the “Roxbury Young Peoples Dance Company” and then later with “A Major Dance Company”. She has performed in many productions and events throughout the New England area, as well as in New York and Washington. She performed with the Boston Musical Theater, Director Andrea Olin; Emerson College’s Summer Theater Playhouse, and with the Boston Youth Theater, Director/Writer Elaine Khory. Linda Thompson was the Drama and Dance Coach and Artistic Director for the Fresh Air-Fund Camps in Poughkeepsie, NY, and an Assistant Activity Counselor at the Joseph Lee Middle School, which was an after school program in Dorchester, MA. She also was selected to dance as a New England Patriot Cheerleader. She taught dance classes as a Master Instructor throughout the New England area, and established dance companies, such as, “The TNT Dancers” and “Independent Dance Theatre.” Linda Thompson is the owner and Master Dance Instructor at the Christian School of Dance and is currently the Artistic Director and Choreographer of the “C.S. Dancers” and “The C.S. Dance Jr. Co.” who perform throughout Charlotte, North Carolina. She was the winner of 2013 CEDA- Charlotte Emerging Dance Award Best Choreographer. Linda Thompson has produced, directed and choreographed numerous production and children presentations. Linda Thompson is a retired Boston Police Officer and worked with the Community Service police Department, where she participated and performed for children and families in the “Night Out” city events. Linda Thompson relocated to Charlotte and fell in love with the spirituality of the city, the people and their openness to worship and praise the Lord. Always a true believer in Jesus Christ, she decided through her revival experience, here in Charlotte, to expand her dance ministry and open up a school for children; so that dance expression would be another beautiful way to have fun, learn dance education and praise the Lord. Linda Thompson, who is affectionately called “Miss Linda” by all the students, staff and community, believes the school is a missionary, and the purpose is not financial gain. Her goal is to serve families and children in the Charlotte communities, providing them with a positive dance and musical theater program. The Christian School of Dance mission is to offer culture to children who, might not otherwise, have opportunity to experience or participate in the arts. The schools motto is “Nurturing young minds and bodies through dance, with talents from God.” Linda Thompson also currently serves as the Artistic Director and Lead Praise Dance Choreographer to Shekinah Dance Ministries of New Beginnings Community Church; presiding pastor; Rev. Dr. Michael Henderson & Co Pastor Tawanna Henderson.
Aliya Longmire is a native of Washington D.C., there she began dancing at a very early age. Now living in Charlotte North Carolina, fulfilling her passion dancing and teaching. She is currently a devoted member of Have Life Church in Charlotte, North Carolina under the leadership of Of Pastor Shomari White & Co Pastor Jacque White, there she serves as Music & Art Assistant Department Lead. She is a trained ballet and jazz dancer and continues to study under the direction of Linda Thompson at Christian School of Dance; as well as other master instructors throughout the Charlotte, North Carolina region. Aliya is an established dance instructor and choreographer. She has ministered in many dance presentations throughout Charlotte N.C, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Florida, as well as choreographer for numerous plays and programs. Aliya deepest passion and forte is liturgical dance (Ministry in Movement). “I am just a vessel being used by God to deliver the good news through dance.” 2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us….
